We’ve just seen the introduction of a fantastic new limited time welcome offer on the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card. If this card has been on your radar (or even if it hasn’t), this would be a great time to apply, as this is an excellent offer on a card with a reasonable annual fee.

Alaska Visa Card 60K miles & companion fare bonus

The Alaska Airlines Visa Card is offering the following two-part limited time welcome bonus after spending $3,000 within the first 90 days of account opening:

  • 60,000 Alaska Mileage Plan miles
  • An Alaska companion fare from $122 ($99 fare plus taxes and fees from $23)

Personally I value Alaska miles at 1.5 cents each, given the great uses of Alaska Mileage Plan miles (the program will be changing in March 2024, but I don’t think it’s necessarily bad news). That means the 60,000 miles are worth $900 to me, and that doesn’t even account for the value of the Alaska companion fare.

Why the Alaska Airlines Visa Card is worth it

Beyond the excellent bonus, there are multiple reasons to get the $95 annual fee Alaska Airlines Visa Card. Among other things, the card offers the following:

  • A companion fare from $122 ($99 fare plus taxes and fees from $23) on your account anniversary every year after spending $6,000 on the card in the prior anniversary year; this is in addition to the companion fare offered as part of the bonus
  • 3x Mileage Plan miles on eligible Alaska Airlines purchases, 2x Mileage Plan miles on eligible gas, EV charging station, cable, streaming services and local transit purchases including ride share, and 1x Mileage Plan miles on all other purchases, all with no foreign transaction fees
  • A 10% rewards bonus on all miles earned from purchases if you have an eligible Bank of America account
  • A first checked bag free on Alaska Airlines flights for the card member and up to six companions on the same reservation when paying with the card; this also applies to authorized users (which you can add at no cost), as long as the card is used to pay for the ticket, even when not traveling with the primary card member
  • Priority boarding on Alaska Airlines flights for the card member and up to six companions on the same reservation when paying with the card; this also applies to authorized users (which you can add at no cost), as long as the card is used to pay for the ticket, even when not traveling with the primary card member
  • 20% savings on inflight purchases of food, drinks, and Wi-Fi, when paying with your card
  • $100 off an Alaska Lounge+ membership annually when you purchase the membership with your card
  • New for 2024, spending on the card can count toward elite status, so the card could help you toward MVP Gold 100K, MVP Gold 75K, MVP Gold, and MVP status

If you fly Alaska Airlines with any frequency, then having this card should be a no-brainer. The benefits really add up, between the companion fare, the first checked bag free, priority boarding, savings on inflight purchases, and more.

The Alaska companion fare should more than justify the annual fee

Bottom line

The Alaska Airlines Visa Card is offering a limited time welcome bonus that consists of 60,000 Mileage Plan miles, plus a companion fare, upon completing minimum spending. If you’re eligible for the card, I’d consider applying with this offer, as this is a card with a reasonable annual fee that many people don’t have.

Are you considering picking up the Alaska Airlines Visa Card?

Wow, that's like half a Starlux business class trans-pacific flight. Alaska Cares!

Worth focusing on accomplice business accessibility is near non-existent at this moment, in any event, for carriers like BA and DE that are typically really liberal with making grant space accessible. Best CBSE School in Greater Noida

Where are you getting the language that this is not open to current BoA Alaska card holders - as in that I'm not eligible for the 70k SUB? I see that it says "limited to customers opening a new account" but wouldn't a new card be considered a new account?

It's worth mentioning that partner business availability is close to non-existent right now, even for airlines like BA and DE that are normally pretty generous with making award space available. (My guess is that this is related to technological migrations for the March 1 refactor of the Mileage Plan program.)
