Online shopping portals can be a great way to pick up additional miles & points for purchases you’d make anyway. For following a specific link you can earn bonus points in addition to the ones you’d earn for credit card spending.
The number of bonus points you earn per dollar spent varies greatly by retailer, though in addition to those variable bonuses, there are often promotions that are available on all purchases. A few shopping portal bonuses are currently available, which are worth keeping in mind for any online shopping you may be planning.

Earn 6,500 bonus miles with two portal bonuses
Several airline shopping portals are currently offering promotions for online purchases. If you’re going to make online purchases anyway, you might as well take advantage of these offers. Let’s go over the details of these offers.
Alaska Mileage Plan Shopping bonus
Through Wednesday, May 8, 2024, Alaska Mileage Plan Shopping is offering up to 1,000 bonus miles for shopping:
- Earn 400 bonus miles when you spend $100
- Earn 1,000 bonus miles when you spend $400
American AAdvantage eShopping bonus
Through Monday, May 13, 2024, American AAdvantage eShopping is offering up to 2,000 bonus miles for shopping:
- Earn 500 bonus miles when you spend $200
- Earn 2,000 bonus miles when you spend $800
Southwest Rapid Rewards Shopping bonus
Through Monday, May 20, 2024, Southwest Rapid Rewards Shopping is offering up to 2,000 bonus points for shopping:
- Earn 500 bonus points when you spend $100
- Earn 1,000 bonus points when you spend $200
United MileagePlus Shopping bonus
Through Monday, May 13, 2024, United MileagePlus Shopping is offering up to 2,500 bonus miles for shopping:
- Earn 500 bonus miles when you spend $100
- Earn 2,500 bonus miles when you spend $400
Bottom line
Between these four shopping portal promotions you can earn up to 6,500 bonus points for spending $1,800. You can take advantage of both of these promotions, and each is based on your cumulative spending through a particular portal during the offer period. The bonus points should post within 10 weeks of when the promotions end.
If you make purchases in the right increments, you could be earning well over three bonus miles per dollar spent, not even factoring in the miles usually being offered through the shopping portals, plus the points you usually earn through credit card spending (make sure you’re using the best credit cards for everyday spending). That can add up.
Beyond airline shopping portal bonuses, also keep in mind that Rakuten is pretty awesome, as it offers a great bonus for new members, and you can earn Amex Membership Rewards points with the portal. Personally that’s what I use for most of my online purchases.
Do you plan on taking advantage of these shopping portal bonuses?
Honestly, people are better off checking out Rakuten before the airline portals. I spent US $340 last night, and got 15 x Amex points for the purchase that I would have made anyway.
The airline portals are better than nothing, one supposes, but there are other portals that are consistently much more lucrative.
I agree. I spent $114 yesterday as well and got 90 x with Surfshark subscription.
AA Bonuses have been BORING lately. No thanks.
