Coolest/scariest proposal ever?

Just plain (plane?) awesome. Takes his girlfriend on a plane, pretends there’s an emergency, and then proposes to her.

For all the doom and gloom comments, I was expecting something completely dangerous and out of line. Guess that most readers here aren't pilots themselves. I, for one, thought it was a clever and well planned-out proposal. If that's the most stressful experience this lady ever experiences with her mate, then it's all downhill from there. High fives to them, thanks for sharing!

I suppose between dying of an airplane crash and marrying the guy, I'd choose marrying the guy also.

@ Eric F-D -- Hah, sadly, I heard about it on the radio. Guess I should check your Facebook every day!

@ pilot - Well, at least he used his pre-takeoff checklist...

@ Rebecca D. - Your post made me smile. When you DO get proposed to, and you will, I hope there is nice music and you are not in a "busy" cockpit. Good luck. (yellow smiley thing)

I can see how some people might think this is awesome, but I have to disagree. Seems like a pretty mean spirited way of asking someone you love to spend the rest of their life with you. Maybe she will get back at him at the wedding somehow.

@ Austex, nope, never been in the cockpit during a flight emergency. Also never been proposed to so maybe it was just the music I liked :)

    @ Rebecca D.

Have you ever been in the cockpit during an actual inflight emergency? It gets pretty busy.

On the other hand, Rebecca is correct. She seemed to be very happy. I would be happy, too, if I learned that I wasn't about to die a horrible death in thirty seconds. Perhaps she DOES want to live with this cruel type of humor the rest of her life. She has...

I REALLY hope we're wrong!

This guy should not fly, danger to others , was not paying attention , and i am sure he is only a private pilot with no experience .

Actually, I thought it was awesome! She seemed very happy too!

Aw, I think it is cute

Unless they were both in on the joke and wanted to make a "cute" video about their engagement, and I doubt that was the case, I am not amused. I am not a licensed mental health professional, but I agree with "sendbillmoney" about the intentional infliction of emotional distress, especially upon one you are supposed to love.

I am a former aircraft owner and pilot and tried to make every person who flew with me be at ease and feel safe. Trying to frighten someone, especially several thousand feet in the air is, in itself a little scary and a little, well, odd.

Captain Sensitive N. Caring would probably say, "Hey, chill, Old Dude, it was just a joke!".
One wonders how many "just a joke"s there will be in the future. Which brings us to "Segments" comments, above.

This one was pretty good too:

    Not awesome.

I see a divorce lawyer filing a restraining order against an abusive husband in his future....

Well, you can't say she won't going into the marriage knowing what a jerk she's in for.

Pay no mind to the crying woman to your right, eyes outside the cockpit, head on a swivel son!

I'm sure FAA will be asking a few questions. he might have to give up his PPL

  17. sendbillmoney Guest

I saw no awesome in this at all. Intentional infliction of emotional distress is not awesome. But hey, that's just me.

Ben - I want to feel like you posted this upon seeing my FB wall last night. but that would be presumptuous of me ;) but please tell me its true.

so illegal yet so awsome at the same time, i'll have to put that on my list of possible proposals.

If this goes wrong we'll hear Train's 50 Ways to Say Goodbye "she went down in an airplane...."

This is dumb. Not romantic at all. Cool for who? Guys prespective, it sounds like a good idea. To a girl, its more like a prank.
