For absolutely no reason other than to see the area and say I went up there, I'm dying to fly AS up to Barrow.
FAI-ANC-DEN with a 7:00am arrival in DEN provides connections to the entire western 2/3 of the country, including IAH and EWR. SFO is the odd man out unless you want to backtrack, or wait a while in ANC. Pretty good schedule over all, really.
It's a tag flight. They dont feel/ are worried that demand wont recover to offer Fairbanks its own nonstops as they have in previous summers, so are tagging it off an Anchorage flight. Although it's been some years, other airlines have done this before. Not sure why it deserves a post.

If you are a United Club member, you can use the Alaska Lounge in ANC during your layover.
Actually this is a major cut in the FAI market. UA operated nonstop DEN-FAI and ORD-FAI flights in the past.
Regardless it’s better than losing UA service entirely.
Not cool! ORD-FAI was one of the easiest upgrades in the system. ANC for whatever reason is always quite tough. Hoping they’ll add a direct FAI flight if demand recovers a bit more.

@ Peter — When the full Alaska schedule comes back you can do the ANC-SCC-BRW-ANC flight. One of the quickest and slowest boarding experiences in one trip. ANC-SCC boards extremely quickly because it's all almost completely oil field workers with minimal luggage. BRW-ANC is probably the slowest boarding experience since there is no room after TSA. TSA opens when boarding begins.
It’s nothing new. UA flew ANC-FAI in the 1980’s and 90’s. I’ve flown that route on UA 767’s, 727-100’s and 200’s and 757’s.
United was flying SJU to STT flights for quite a few months before they started the IAH-STT nonstop. It wasn’t just a through flight, you could buy tickets on just the SJU STT SJU portions.
Looking at UA's website for this route...there are several options with flights on AS. Since when do UA and AS have any type of partnership?
