After a few nights in Doha, my dad and I continued our round the world journey by flying Qatar Airways Airbus A380 first class to Perth. We spent lots of time at Doha Hamad Airport so that I could review several lounges plus the airport expansion.

Is this lounge accessible to oneworld Emerald passengers in Economy class? The app says that passengers must be in Business or higher to use this lounge although I suspect it may be an error.

I'm confused. Qatar Airways cuts costs with oneworld Emerald lounge access.......but keeps the sushi?

@ Sean M. -- That's definitely an error. The intent is that this is for oneworld Sapphire and Emerald members in economy (or on a business class fare not otherwise eligible for lounge access).

I would say that is an error, as if your a passenger in business class then you would have access to the Al Mourjan lounges and the lounge is specifically branded by QR as platinum (OW emerald) and gold (OW sapphire) lounge. Additionally if true that would violate OW lounge access rules wouldn't it?

It seems very silly from a loyalty point of view that QR don't even let their own gold and platinum elites into the the Al Mourjan and Al sawfa lounges or is it because if they let their own in then they would have to let all other OW sapphire/emerald in - does anyone know the rules around this?

@ Morgan -- They can make their own restrictions. For example, Privilege Club Platinum members in business class can use the Al Safwa Lounge, but that's it. I agree it would be smart for Qatar Airways to do something for its own flyers. I suspect that historically the airline just didn't have sufficient lounge capacity to make that happen. Let's see if that changes over time.

Any idea what is the policy with accompanying children? In some lounges, first/business class Oneworld emerald tier members can bring along both one guest plus an underaged kid.

@ Johanna -- I believe the policy is that only infants (under two) wouldn't be considered guests here.

I've visited this lounge several times in the last couple of months and although very nice whilst flying QR economy, its a pity to see the cost cutting as tenderloin beef & rose champagne have been cut from the menu

QR has a business class "lite" which does allow access to Al Mourjan Lounges

Sorry mis-type, business class "lit" does NOT allow access to Al Mourjan lounges

We're flying Qatar business class to Abu Dhabi in October. Does this mean as business class ticket holders we get access to a lounge during our Doha stop? It was hard to tell from the article. TIA

I have enjoyed access to this lounge, but find the Platinum-only lounge on the south side (next to the A gates, and above the Gold lounge) more pleasant - beautiful space with high ceilings and very quiet compared to the North Platinum and Gold Lounge (although the North Platinum and Gold lounge is certainly more spacious than the south Gold-only lounge!).

I don't believe QR offers Business Class on any flights into Abu Dhabi.

Since your Doha-Abu Dhabi is considered "First Class", you'll be able to access the AlSafwa Lounge.

The business class leg is from LAX to Doha. Then first class from Doha to Abu Dhabi.

In a point of view of facility quality, i cannot find a big difference from silver lounge. Only the toilet in shower room maybe. Of course, silver lounge must be way more crowd..

Being a Gold tier member, I would have appreciated an actual quiet room for the lounge chairs.

The area where these chairs are located is very loud and not relaxing or quiet as the Silver lounge quiet room.

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I can’t see clearly enough when I zoom in. Do the showers have shampoo and conditioner? It looks like the one bottle with white contents might be conditioner and the other body lotion. Flying via Doha in a few weeks, with access to this lounge, and want to know what toiletries to pack 🙂 TIA
