Review: Sheraton Munich Airport

Lucky, did consider the Kempinski @ MUC? I'd definitely recommend it for convenience, hands down. During my last stay, the rates were competitive with the other "airport" hotels.

I stayed at the Residence Inn Munich East and loved it! Free full breakfast for everyone and only 20K marriot points (25K now). Room had free nespresso too.

@ Andyandy -- Yes, I've seen it before and looks like an awesome hotel, though I needed Starwood stay credits and the Sheraton was much cheaper, so decided that would be the best option especially since I haven't reviewed it yet. If I have a shorter layover in the future I'll probably stay at the Hotel Kempinski.

We stayed here during Oktoberfest last year. While away from the city center, it was an easy 40min train ride into town and the price during this peak time was only 7k spg points. Great deal! I have no status with SPG and I'm pretty sure that we were also given the restaurant discount, though wifi was not free in the room. Computers in the lobby had free wifi though.

I need to plan a meeting for about 45 people in Munich for May 2014. I had the BEST experience planning the May 2013 meeting at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel and Towers. Do you know anything about the Sheratons in Munich that are NOT by the airport? My attendees want to stay somewhere nice but not outrageously priced. Some thought that the HK hotel at $241 which included a $30 huge breakfast buffet and wi-fi was not a good value. Hmmmm. It isn't easy pleasing people which I aim to do.

@ Maja Berge -- Hah, can certainly relate to not being able to please everyone!

The Sheraton in Munich is in the Arabellapark area, which isn't all that central if location is very important. It's a subway stop or two from where you want to be, and there isn't much to do in the immediate area. That being said, that may translate into a good deal.

Meanwhile the Le Meridien is very central, the only SPG property in Munich that is, really.

Random comment, but that's a massive airport "shuttle"

Stayed there couple of times although never taken the airport shuttle. For those with their own transportation there is self-parking available for a fee.

Note that the Kempinski, although pretty nice overall, has some pretty poor basic rooms as well and is not what you think of with the name compared to some of their other properties IMO. It's a typical airport hotel. Nice restaurant and open atrium area and you can't beat the location for a short layover, but it ain't that great!

I just checked out of this hotel a couple of hours ago. Loved it. I'm only SPG Gold but I did get an upgrade, not something that I ever get at any SPG hotels. It wasn't to a suite but was to an executive floor/room. Would have loved that 20% off food coupon as I ended up spending 30 euro on dinner last night. It was an excellent meal.

Coming from the airport the shuttle picks people up at Terminal 2 then a few minutes later Terminal 1. It makes a stop at the NH hotel and then the Sheraton. In the morning first stop from the Sheraton is Terminal 2.

I wasn't charged for the shuttle last night coming in from the airport. Not really sure why. I think you have to actually book the shuttle via hotel and pay them? Driver just had me sign in. When I checked in to the hotel I was offered to pre-pay for the shuttle for this morning and had it charged to my room. I was given a ticket that the driver collected this morning.
