The real power behind the throne lies with N. Chandrasekharan, the Chairman of Tata Group who has also appointed himself Chairman of Air India.
Campbell Wilson may have some level of operational freedom in decision making but the strategic direction is very definitely coming from above on a "take it or leave us" basis.
He was able to start a long-haul LCC and made it work, which is more than can be said for Norwegian Air. That alone is a notable achievement, of course.

An incredibly dumb manager. The only airline that canceled flights to Tel Aviv immediately after unclear comments about the alleged explosion of a rocket in Iran on the night of April 19. Flights are cancelled until the end of the month. Due to a stupid decision, both passengers and the airline lost money.
