Review: Air Astana Lounge Astana Airport

It's my experience that in most destinations people prefer to spend the hours before a flight departure having a homemade supper with friends or family rather than being at a lounge.

How often do you have to renew your passport(s)? I imagine the pages must fill up quickly with all the stamps and visas you acquire. I know you have both USA and German passports and maybe even another 5-year USA passport that you send off for visas but I would think even will all of those, the pages would fill up often.

It is busiest in the mid-late afternoon. Many (but not all) of the international departures leave between 15:00 and 20:00 and can fill up a bit. Usually a pleasant experience but as you say, pretty underwhelming. Beats the hell out of Almaty lounge. Avoid the food at all costs, not only is it fairly pedestrian but it is out for a long time and can get quite manky after hours in the heat.

I have to say the first thing that I thought of seeing the airport interior pictures was: KLIA (!)

u noticed that Astana Airport is designed by the late Kisho Kurokawa also the same one who design Kuala Lumpur International Airport -I noticed it from the photos u took - interesting

...and he designed the Singapore Flyer and , perhaps oddly, there is something of KLIA ( and Astana) in that structure. A wonderful architect who died far too young.

I had a similar scenario at Astana airport. I almost wasn't allowed to board because I couldn't find the credit card that I booked with. They were very aggressive and didn't seem to care. Somehow I was able to convince them and I was let in.

My experience was the same with immigration and security on my international departure from Almaty. The immigration agent was expressionless, took about 10 minutes per passenger, didn't say anything to me. Then security seemed very strict despite their domestic security being a complete joke. I know INTL departures have higher standards but I had to take things out of my bag and go through like 3 times before i got to the "international lounge"...

There is a lot of potential but this is still a 3rd world, Soviet country.

Does anyone know the price to get in this lounge? there's not too much information on the internet.

I'm flying from Moscow to delhi via air astana. But in astana i have a 15hr layover time. And i don't know what to do. I don't transit visa so that I can go outside.
I want to know whether we can pay at the lounge at airport and use the service or anyother option do i have. As i'm flying in economy class.
