Lucky, how do you have Star Gold status? With which airline (and if it's not too much trouble, how did you acquire it)?
@a, there was a post sometime before about status matching on Copa. I believe Lucky got the Gold status from there.
Lucky, I am begging you to try Etihad and V Aus business class on your way home from your Jordon trip. You could route AUH-SYD/BNE-LAX on Etihad and VAus respectively. Thanks!
P.S This would deliver the Etihad Business class review everyone wants! Heck you could even do an Emirates Business class flight to Aus. Just be ready to not be able to shower at 38000 feet!
I was just there last week! We had a 3+ hour delay out of LHR to MUC because of the fog. One thing to note is that the food is provided by DO&CO so it's actually pretty darn good. Although the interiors are a little sterile it's one of my favourite business class lounges out there!
I did like the United lounger at the Queens terminal 🙂 I only had a short time there but it was very nice too.
The UA Lounge is the best of the 4 in the Queen's terminal. Lots of windows and a separate circular room for the food. Plus it has the nicest showers and restrooms. These showers are the best I have every seen (better than CX lounge showers). SQ and AC are nice - but not as nice as the UA Club.
UA/SQ/AC all have showers - with UA being the best.
Problem with the LH lounges is that have no showers. Last year I arrived on a UA over Atlantic Flight and was connecting on a SK flight. SK also leaves out of the close in gates same as LH.
When you arrive at the outer concourse where most of the long haul international flights are, you then have to walk all the way back to the close in terminal to clear security (immigration not required when connecting). So if you are connecting on SK or LH you are not conveniently located next to the LH lounges and near the departure gates. But if you want to take a shower, you have to go all the way to the outer concourse to use a UA/SQ/AC shower.
As pointed out that is a 15 minute walk out and then another 15 minutes back. So you need a long connection time. And the escalators only go up at the outer terminal. So not designed for you to walk back. Your only option is the elevators - and unless you know that in advance you need to ask someone. One design flaw with the Queen's terminal and the LH lounge.
@Ben I understand this is a premium travel portal but would that really stop you to post a review of your economy travel from LHR? It would be interesting to know from you how is to de-adjust after a 14hr Skyyrax 5star Rating first class service
I think the LH lounge is great and i agree that the food is also good - very relaxing and professional.
Having flown Swiss from Heathrow recently I had access to the Lufthansa lounge but found it all a bit sterile, as I couldn't face the round trip out to the other Alliance lounges I used the plaza lounge which is in priority pass and found that really comfortable with good food and drink (inc servers wandering the lounge) I would recommend that lounge.
You only have 3.5 hours connecting time between GA and LH flight in separate ticket. If inbound GA flight get delay, you will loss the connecting LH. I believe your ticket allow you to rebook without any fee if your GA flight get delay?
Nice - much better than the AA lounge. I bet it tops the UA/*A lounge as well. Too bad it's a hike from the other wing.
As 90% of my travel is with Lufthansa, I spend quite alot of time in the business lounges.
Although I agree that they are all pretty identical - I am almost always satisfied with the service.
The food and drink selection is more than adequate for the purpose -> remember that most people stay in the business lounges for maybe an hour max just before a flight. A quick snack and a drink/coffee is the most people will have and is available in a good quality.
Even when I had to have breakfast/lunch in one it was perfectly fine.
A tip from me: Check out the Business/Senator lounge in the K- SatelliteTerminal in Munich. The Terminal is completely new and so are the lounges. Nicely layed out with a couple small (but nice) design changes other older LH lounges don't have. Also it is alot less crowded than the G-area.
Cookie cutter is right. The only difference I see between this lounge and the other Lufthansa lounges I have been in is that it appears that they don't offer pretzels here.
I disagree. Lufthansa has so much better food than the other lounges (UA/AC/SQ).
The Lufthansa lounge looks incredibly spacious, although it could have a bit more ambience and inviting decor.
Has anyone tried the Arrivals Lounge [STAR ALLIANCE] Terminal 2 Heathrow . The facility is just after leaving the Terminal 2 baggage reclaim/customs area. Wondering what the showers and breakfast are like? Thanks for the info.
