While it would be an exciting (and long) day of travel, my day started like any other run-of-the-mill domestic trip. I was booked on the usual 8:45AM Tampa to Washington Dulles flight, which I typically take once or twice a week. I woke up at around 6:15AM, showered, and did some last minute packing. I’m…

I liked spending a few hours in the IAD SEN lounge in April during a long layover connecting to a United TATL night time flight. it is such a contrast to the RCC. I really enjoyed the Bier, mini pizza bagels, and Käsekuchen. For Lufthansa flights, the passengers enter the airplane by leaving from a walkway in the lounge that goes directly into the plane.

Nice TR so far, question though. How come you didn't OLCI in TPA, it would have sucked if you were denied your boarding pass because of the 45 min rule.

Also as for the TSA staffers at TPA, since you travel so much you'd think they would know you by know and not give you so much grief.

Nice trip report...but, I was confused by one thing. You say: "United has replaced their saucer and cups with mugs in the past week, so I wanted to try them out." What were you expecting? Does a mug make the coffee taste different?

@ rkaradi -- I had problems using online check-in. I wasn't expecting it to take so long to get to the airport, but at the same time I know that when I'm running late, the TPA ground staff can help out. As far as the TSA goes, it's because they know me that they seem to want to give me so much grief.

@ mark -- No, I wanted to try them out to see how much coffee they hold and what material they're made of. Hard to do that without touching the mug...

Good to know that IAD Sentor Lounge opens earlier in the monring. I plan to use it exclusively from now on instead of RCC.

Are tje wifi access code available to everyone who has access to the lounge or just for certain group of passengers?

You threw something in the middle there that I was unaware of.

As a Star Alliance Gold member, even on a domestic ticket, you can use this lounge. The lounge only used to open in the afternoon, so it’s great news that it opens earlier now.

I did not know that *G had access to any lounges (without a PC membership, maybe) on domestic tickets. Is this benefit published anywhere (and I just missed it) or is it an unpublished benefit? Is it available at other Senator lounges in the US (Newark, perhaps)?

@UA_Flyer, as of last week, they had the wifi codes sitting in a bowl near the restrooms, free for the taking. They're all the same, I believe.

You can use any foreign carrier's *A lounge in the USA

@Steve & @tp

The trick is getting to them. Very few are available stateside without entering an international terminal

Was at the IAD LH SEN lounge for the first time yesterday and missed the bowl of wi-fi codes. I wish they would have informed me at the front desk. I was quite surprised to see no open wi-fi network and assumed there wasn't one. No problem, as I just used my WWAN card.

Otherwise, it's a fantastic lounge and I was grateful to have access on a domestic trip. And I didn't have to wait long for the attendant to come to pour our Beck's and Shock Top. 🙂
