Bling it on: Grosvenor House Dubai
When I was in Dubai last year I stayed at the Park Hyatt, which was spectacular, easily one of my most pleasant hotel stays ever. When you find a great hotel it's very tempting to return to it, though I figured a review of the same hotel just a year later probably wouldn't interest y'all…

Any decent high end hotel will give early arrivals a temporary room if one is available, e.g. The Lanesborough and The Stafford in London; can't speak to Dubai as I've not been telhere (and I like that way 🙂 ).
best executive lounge i have ever been to, even better than Ritz properties. Every serving was a full on meal. We really enjoyed the property.
Was your C/P rate for tower 1 and did the online suite upgrade offer you tower 2?
@ Carl -- Correct, C&P was for tower one room and was offered upgrade to tower two junior suite.
Forgive my ignorance but did the suite give you club access or did elite SPG status!
Ha! I stayed in exactly room 2502 at the Grosvenor House in Dubai in September 2011.
You said, you "decided to apply two of my Starwood Platinum “Suite Night Awards” to the reservation to confirm a junior suite. Why did it take 2? If these are the 10 a year you get with staying 50 nights, I would have thought only one was needed to upgrade a stay.
@Heather - Platinum status gains access to the Level 5 executive lounge in Tower 2, even if staying in Tower 1.
Sounds like they handled this nicely. The baseline standards for lounges in the Gulf are higher than anywhere else in the world.
@Carl - Have you been to a Ritz club in the Gulf?
Ben - did you consider staying at any Hilton properties in Dubai? Was curious any feedback you may have. Thanks.
@ Randy -- You need one per night, and it was a two night stay.
@ Brad -- I haven't yet stayed at a Hilton in Dubai so really couldn't say. I have top tier status with Starwood, Hyatt, and InterContinental, so I'll probably try those hotels before I try Hilton (where I have mid-tier status as of now).
Enjoying the trip report. Where do we sign up to be lucky's travel companion??!! I am curious though - as you often travel with someone - does this person "pay" his/her own way or do you redeem miles for them as well?
I am staying there right now (after a few nights at the excellent jw marquis) and I have to say so far I am really impressed - level 5 fb + upgraded to ... a 3 bedroom apt!
