You don't need bottled water in Newfoundland....tap water is just perfect. Glad you enjoyed your brief stay in Gander. Newfoundland is a gem despite the weather

As a resident of a small town in Eastern Canada, I can just imagine some locals laughing at the idea of bottled water. "We gets good water from de tap, b'y!"
Gander was a big refuelling stop years ago and also is the home of one of our ACCs which happens to control the western half of the North Atlantic Tracks

You know, almost all limited service hotels have laundry machines available 🙂 ... it's only fancy hotels that force you to pay outrageous prices for laundry services.
I recently watched this musical called Come From Away, which is set in Gander. I didn't know this but after US closed its airspace on 9/11, several international flights had to land in Gander (doubling its population overnight!)
Looks like the place was recently renovated. And I really agree with your comment about a "legitimate office chair." So many hotels have cheap fabric or vinyl covered ones that squeak and wobble. And they can never be adjusted high enough - I like office chairs that bring me right up to just below the desk surface.

The people of Gander made a lasting impression on those who had to land there after 9/11. The passengers and crew of Delta 15 have a great story to tell of the hospitality they received in Gander.

Bgriff: Probably has to do with the same reason upscale hotels charge for wifi, they're business hotels and most of those charges to said business traveler are likely written off as expenses by their employers.
Though, I have seen a Hilton hotel have self service laundry available before. But it's probably pretty rare.
@zazharyb there's virtually no upscale hotel that charge people for wifi these days, wifi these days can be had for non status loyalty members.

It was more than just several flights that landed in Gander. It was a total of 38 planes and 6,579 passengers for the 10000 or so residents of Gander to welcome, house, and feed.
Amazing example of hospitality and the residents of Gander showed us all how to do it
