We got to the airport at around 7:15AM for our 9:05AM flight. Unlike last time, first class check-in was packed, and all agents were even busy, although one finished up right as we approached. It took a bit longer to check us in since we were continuing on JAL from Narita. While the agent could…

Sure don't feel like I'm missing out having not flown JAL Intl F.

Yes. That's FBF. It's currently used by the NYPD.

Speaking of JFK, all your food pictures certainly look good. But if you want really good food, we can save you a seat on the Brooklyn Reality Tour. Not fancy, but .

What, no report on the fermented sea slug? 😉

Thanks for the comments, guys!

@ Joe -- Thanks for clearing that up. Makes sense.

@ Greg -- Thanks for not making me the only person using the term "frickin." 😀

@ bmvaughn -- Definitely agree; there are much better options, both in Star and OneWorld.

@ Dan -- I'd love to come and will do my best, although can't commit yet. There's something looming at the moment which is preventing me from planning, and as soon as I know for sure, I'll start planning.

@ FortFun -- Yeah, I wasn't feeling quite that creative. 😀

Thanks again for writing. I think I have jet lag just from reading it.

It's a real shame you are not a foodie. Japan's culinary standards are among the highest in the world. Reflecting that, the JAL menu looks really good though I wonder how well it translates to the plate? Many will disagree with me but if food is not critical to you, I would highly recommend American Airlines's premium cabins. There is nothing wrong with their meals, it's just that the dishes tend to be more down to earth, which is often exactly what I want, rather than Michelin Star standards of innovation or presentation. The few times I have been seated in premium cabins on airlines like CX, I have sometimes found that they try so hard to impress with their menus that they select dishes which would be supurb in a restaurant but less so on a flight. The other problem with AA in all classes is that their flight attendants range from wonderful to "should have chosen a different career", whereas ones on CX are very rarely worse than good.

One thing I wish airlines like CX wouldn't do is waste so much food. Sure, it's good to give each passenger an extensive choice but given the number of people in the world (and now in the US) who don't have enough to eat, is it really necessary to offer so many bread rolls in the individual bread baskets?

The new JAL seat is fantastic, much more so than the iteration you tried out. I do forgive them though, Champagne Salon '97 is a treat in the air. I've yet to find a finer chapagne in the sky.
