It still amazes me these are not automated e-gate style systems like you see at passport controls in certain countries. I realize it would take some rearranging of check points but I don't get how it is sustainable in the long run to staff these at multiple check points at airports across the country.
If I'm on UA (T7), any Clear time savings is probably negated by having to clear at T5 and do the ~10 minute walk to the UA gates
Since most of my LAX flying is out of T4/5 it's hard to justify the cost since PreCheck at T4 is almost never more than 5 minutes...
@UA-NYC: Why would you have to clear at T5? The announcement is that they're open at everything but TBIT.
