And @Lucky Dragonair crew are in fact paid more than Cathay. Just that in general the cost base is lower.
To further @Kip Parent's comment. ..will we be able to redeem Alaska miles for Cathay Dragon connecting flights to/from Cathay?
Just so you know, CX pays the worst among airlines in Hong Kong. The difference in cost structure is mainly because KA has a lot of narrow-body aircraft but CX has none. Sometimes it takes a bit of local knowledge to try to be an armchair CEO.
Such a shame. Dragonair is an unique name. Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon... sound pretty boring.
I flew with Dragonair last month. Never again! I made a small typo in one of the four tickets purchased and they truculently refused to change it. I had to purchase another ticket. They were impossible to deal with.
I'm a big fan of dragonair- they're a great regional carrier. I especially like how they are an affiliate member of oneworld (unlike SQs SilkAir)

BTW, i am surprised to see someone perceive Dragonair is a quasi-lower cost carrier. Think it is no less premium compared to Cathay especially when it comes to catering
