Yep. "Mileage expiry" is a nothingburger. The people concerned with this issue have never redeemed miles for travel and don't use credit cards.
It isn't quite correct that "Back in the day, Aeroplan miles would expire after seven years, regardless of any activity." In 2006 they announced such a policy, to start with miles earned in 2007. In 2013, with the first 7 year milestone approaching, they faced so much backlash that they eliminated the policy before it actually started to expire any miles.
At the same time as the 2006 announcement, they changed their inactivity expiry from 36 months to 12 months, so the current change to 18 months is only half as good as it was "back in the day".

It is not fair to set up the expiration of the Aeroplan mileages as the travellers have been earning the miles on accumulation and it is belonged to them. I suggest you should not set up the expiration for members.
