The Maldives are pretty popular in Italy so no wonder AZ jumped years ago on the leisure bandwagon as they have seasonal flights to exotic places like Fortaleza and Havana.

That said, Lucky, have you considered using AZ to position yourself in CAI? By the way, departing from LAX you could also access Etihad's lounge...

Tbh I don't see this working... Meridiana and Neos (another Italian carrier) are already operating this route between both MXP and FCO

Meridiana and neos at charter they have horrible product no business class and very expensive !! I'm Italian and I can say Alitalia don't have much award the Alitalia ceo of millemiglia say we push out 3 million award ticket in the last year but just 250.000 was booked .. it's seems very strange as find a ticket from Milan to New York in low season its almost impossible you can find with partner but Alitalia ask 100.000 miles for a round trip in j doing milano /Abu dabhi /New York ... actually the pic on this post is a old pic Alitalia got new business class design is not anymore magnifica as we can see on the pics ... the best deal at the moment with Alitalia is milano / abu dabhi in j round trip for just 60k or 36k just one way
