For those of you not familiar with Amex Offers, it’s a program available through most Amex cards, where different cards are eligible for different savings and bonus offers. In many cases the offers can be huge, and more than offset the annual fee on a card.
To view Amex Offers, go to the bottom of the account summary page of any American Express card, where you’ll see all the offers you’re eligible for. These offers come in different forms, including discounts and even in some cases bonus points.
At the moment there’s a targeted Amex Offer for 2,000 bonus Membership Rewards points when you spend $50 with Amazon by December 31, 2017. I value Membership Rewards points at ~1.7 cents each, so to me this is like a ~$34 return on a $50 Amazon purchase.
The catch is that like most Amex Offers, this one is targeted, and it also seems to be more narrowly targeted than some of the other offers I’ve seen lately. For example, I checked all of my Amex accounts and all of Ford’s, and only The Platinum Card® from American Express in his name has the offer on it.
So if you are an Amex cardmember, it’s entirely possible that none of your cards will be targeted. However, this offer is so good that I feel like it’s worth posting about. Many of us make most of our retail purchases through Amazon, and this is a huge return on that spend.
If you are targeted, make sure you register for the offer as soon as possible, since registration is limited (however, once you’re registered you have until the deadline to use the offer).
Were you targeted for this great Amex Offer?
