Several weeks ago I posted about the new “documentary” about Bangkok Airport, entitled “The Airport Of Smiles: Bangkok Airport.” Thailand is lovely, so I figured I’d love the show, but it has been a complete $hit-show.
I’m still undecided as to whether I love or hate the show. It’s kind of like the Real Housewives equivalent of an airport documentary, in that it’s not actually about airport operations, but rather about the ridiculous drama that occurs when idiots go to Thailand.

Highlights include Captain Poo (for the name alone) and Officer A (who is passionate about making sure no one cuts the line — she’s like me in middle school when I was a hall monitor, except I wore Velcro shoes). 😉
But the prize for this episode definitely goes to the ridiculous French lady who blames the airline and airport because she and her daughter got separated (but clearly she’s right, because she’s studying to be a lawyer, and how dare they charge her for her mistake!).

I watched all the episodes so far and found it quite amusing, given how ridiculous people are these days! I also heard that BBC is doing a whole show/documentary, kinda thingy, over the whole year that is themed on air travel/airports/airplanes. I'm not sure if it's true or not, and I thought that you might know?
I'm not a huge fan of the BKK airport but I am a fan of the show and the country (the food, the girls, the beaches, and the hotels esp.) and I find the relaxed attitude to be a very welcome change compared to how things operate in high stress cultures like the US. Besides the lane dragon most of the staff have been exceedingly relaxed and easy going, even when the passengers are acting like spoiled children.

Due to a system error the computer at the desk was slow and unresponsive but the really helpful agent was trying to be as quick as possible. However this idiot passenger started shouting and screaming and his demand was that they open a separate counter for him. Soon enough emirates opened up another counter and invites the waiting F passengers to that desk however this idiot refused to checkin unless a separate counter was opened and then closed just for him. Was a really funny situation because he was a little tipsy as well :p
If you have a VPN (you should and they're only $5/mo), get the BBC iPlayer app and you can download episodes straight to your phone for offline viewing. Then you don't have to wait for someone to upload a pirated version to YouTube.

I recognize that entertainment requires drama... but: on the theory that BKK is participating for the publicity value, my overwhelming impression is that the locals are interesting and helpful, but the country is so overrun by foreign imbeciles as to be not worth going.
I love Los... ill be spending a week in Pattaya ( ben google it, ude love it. Then off to Phuket to become Padi scuba dive instructor . ;)... ill be arriving in CX first too ;);)
Was the bit about the two people who had to leave early as they had no money made up? They drew money out of an arm which could have paid for a hotel for several weeks in Bangkok!
