World of Hyatt Launching Free Online Points Transfers Between Members

World of Hyatt Launching Free Online Points Transfers Between Members

6

There hasn’t been a whole lot of good news from World of Hyatt as of late, though here’s a positive change that’s expected to go live tomorrow.

Hyatt will introduce free online points transfers

As of Thursday, October 15, 2026, World of Hyatt is expected to introduce free online points transfers between members. This is a change that was promised earlier this year, back when Hyatt announced its award chart changes. We had been promised this would launch later in 2026, but we didn’t have the timeline until now.

It remains to be seen how exactly online points sharing will work, in terms of the limits on how many points you can transfer, how many members you can transfer points to, etc. Over time, we have seen Hyatt make it really easy to transfer awards online, ranging from Guest of Honor Awards, to Suite Upgrade Awards, to Club Access Awards, to Free Night Awards. So hopefully this works just as seamlessly.

As things currently stand, points transfers between World of Hyatt accounts are possible, but it requires filling out a form, the process is far from instant, you can only combine points once every 30 days, and you can only transfer points to another member “in order to have a sufficient number of points to redeem a particular award.”

I’m curious what limit we see on points transfers

It’s great to see the functionality to transfer points online, as that definitely sounds much easier than having to fill out a form, and waiting days. Now, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some limits introduced on the number of points that can be moved around per year, coinciding with this functionality going live.

After all, the old language was pretty vague, saying you could only transfer enough points for a redemption, without having any actual limits in place. Just as a point of comparison, Hilton Honors allows easy online points transfers, but members can transfer no more than 500K points per year, and can receive no more than two million points per year.

Let’s hope that this isn’t actually an “enhancement,” whereby we see a new, very low limit on how many points can be moved around.

Bottom line

On October 15, 2026, World of Hyatt will introduce free online points transfers between members, which is an exciting development. We were promised this earlier in the year, so it’s exciting to see this go live. Well, at least I hope it’s exciting, as I’m curious to see what kind of limits we see on the number of points one can transfer.

What are you expecting from Hyatt’s online points transfer feature?

I hope they've put a bit more thought into it, and maybe allow Globalists (or even lower elites) to have a higher transfer cap.

Prediction: This is not going to end well for Hyatt and their will be severe restrictions in place soon.

When we finally regulate these pseudo-currencies, one obvious consumer protection should be free online points transfers between members. The fact that you cannot do this already with members of your own household is pathetic. Hope this goes well once it’s live.
