World of Hyatt is expected to launch free online points transfers between members on October 15, 2026. Here's what we know so far, and what limits might come with it.

When we finally regulate these pseudo-currencies, one obvious consumer protection should be free online points transfers between members. The fact that you cannot do this already with members of your own household is pathetic. Hope this goes well once it’s live.

What's truly pathetic is your dedicating to spamming every travel blog.

I think you'd need to take some steps to limit antics there (e.g. requiring some evidence of a shared residence).

I'm actually wondering if, in another decade or two, we're not going to run into some weird situations of shared-name family members quietly transitioning hotel status from the parent(s) to the kid(s). Like, if you have John Jacob Jingleheimer-Schmidt Sr, Jr, and III in a family and the account doesn't bother with the tag-on, quietly having Sr. hand his account off to Jr./III (let's face it, your average front desk agent isn't going to notice the difference). Frankly, we'd almost definitely already be there with airlines if it wasn't for e.g. facial recognition stuff - an 80-year-old quietly transitioning their lifetime super-duper status to their kid/grandkid in a world without that or facial recognition would probably be a dodge worth hundreds of thousands of dollars if they're long-term frequent travelers.

There's a related issue, and that's differing status, etc. within a household (e.g. if one spouse travels a lot for work, there are some incentives with respect to ensuring that nights accumulate in one bucket or the other).

I hope they've put a bit more thought into it, and maybe allow Globalists (or even lower elites) to have a higher transfer cap.

I mean, 525k is a very high transfer cap - that's equivalent to like 1m points at a lot of other programs.

Yes, that wasn't in the initial post yesterday.

Hope they add some sort of 2FA for transfers. I can see hackers having a field day with this otherwise.

I sort-of wish I could disable the option on my account - booking a reservation on behalf of somebody else is generally enough.

Lucky it’d be really interesting to get your thoughts (maybe an article idea?) on how you view WoH now that all the changes have come through. I appreciate that Lifetime Globalist means your perspective will be a bit different than someone still on the 60 night hamster wheel, but still I feel the changes have been pretty big. Personally I’ve stopped chasing Globalist after several years of it and become a free agent - the loss of SLH stung a lot, but the pricing devaluation sealed the deal for me

@VirginClubhouseKween I think it's so dependent on your own stay patterns.

If you can get to 60 nights fairly easily, then the significant value of globalist plus milestones will often make it a no-brainer (and the current promos help too). For most, however, getting to 60 nights will involve some degree of compromise, especially in terms of property location. It then becomes quite personalised, working out whether that compromise is worth it.

I'll be Globalist for the first time in a couple of weeks, and it's perfect for me, but I acknowledge that I have far more flexibility than most.
