Does anyone have a Hyatt stay coming up where they’d either like to receive World of Hyatt Globalist perks or club lounge access? Well, I have some awards to gift to OMAAT readers…
In this post:
Hyatt awards are transferable nowadays
With the World of Hyatt program, members can earn Milestone Rewards perks for every 10 elite nights they pass. Not only are these awards independently pretty valuable, but what’s awesome is that nowadays they can be transferred to others. These awards include the following:
- Guest of Honor Awards, whereby you can gift Globalist perks to a Hyatt guest for a stay of up to seven nights
- Club Access Awards, whereby you can receive club lounge access for a stay of up to seven nights
- Suite Upgrade Awards, whereby you can receive an upgrade to a standard suite for a stay of up to seven nights
While you can give these awards away out of the kindness of your heart, there’s a real incentive to give out Guest of Honor awards. That’s because for every Guest of Honor award you give to someone else, you receive one elite night in your own account. As some people pursue status at the end of the year, that can be valuable.
The Hyatt awards I’m giving away
With the end of the calendar year coming up, I’m looking to give away some awards (actually, not just me, but also Ford and some friends). Let me explain the awards that I’m giving away, and what kind of stays I’m hoping to match them with:
- I have quite a few Guest of Honor Awards; however, I’m hoping for people with confirmed bookings that wrap up before the end of the year, so that I can still get a few elite nights
- I have quite a few Club Access Awards; these expire February 28, 2025, so any stay before then is fine
- I also have a couple Suite Upgrade Awards; these expire February 28, 2025, so once again, any stay before then is fine
If you’d like one of these awards:
- Please leave a comment on this post letting me know which award you’d like and when your stay will be (you don’t have to say the hotel, but rather just the dates); make sure your OMAAT username is tied to your real email address, so I can contact you
- If you’re selected, I’ll reach out by email, and will just ask for the stay confirmation email (just so I can verify the stay would be eligible for the award), and will need your last name and World of Hyatt number, since that’s what’s required to gift these awards
- Of course this requires a level of trust; if you’re not comfortable sharing that information then please don’t post asking for certificates, since there’s no way I can gift them to you without having your World of Hyatt number and last name
- In particular for Guest of Honor awards, please only request them if you’re as close to certain as possible that you’ll complete a stay before the end of the calendar year
- I’ll respond to the comments once I’ve reached out, so that people know who already got one
I’m looking to give these away ASAP, though I’ll prioritize giving these to people who have been contributors here, and who have a history of commenting. Let me emphasize that Guest of Honor Awards can be used for cash or points stays booked directly with Hyatt (though not stays booked with Free Night Awards), and Club Access Awards can only be used at properties with club lounges that are open.
Others are also free to give away their awards to others in the comments section. Admittedly this may require someone sharing their email address publicly. Let me also emphasize that these awards aren’t allowed to be bartered, traded, or sold, so please don’t try to do anything that would violate the rules.
Bottom line
With the end of the year coming up, I have several spare Guest of Honor Awards and Club Access Awards, plus a couple of Suite Upgrade Awards. If you’ve read the above, please feel free to leave a comment letting me know which award you’d like and which dates you’ll be staying, and I’ll reach out to give away as many of these as possible.

I have a Mom's getaway/ski trip to Vermont January 30-February 3 and it sounds amazing to be have the extra room of a suite rather than the standard room available with Hyatt points. Got it. However, since the GOA certs are good for 24 months after earning them, they can be quite lucrative as a way to travel with Globalist benefits or to facilitate requalification for Globalist, which, of course, you do not need as a LT Globalist, but you could run up your nights total to earn even more milestone perks ;-)

One simple fix, for instance, might be to exclude Globalists, who already have club access as an elite perk, from earning club access awards as a milestone perk that they have no use for. In fact, one question to ponder is whether the deluge of club access awards will make the few remaining Hyatt Club lounges seem like Delta Sky Club lounges. Along the same vein, the plethora of Guest of Honors awards being gifted bring to mind the saying that if "everyone is an elite then no one is". In short, it is unclear what the upside of these award giveaways might be either for Hyatt or for World of Hyatt elite members.
Another consideration is that the award giveaways, while legit, may also be highly susceptible to misuse or abuse, as some rogue elements overseas may devise fraudulent ways to monetize them rather than simply giving them away. The recent UrCove debacle in which WoH members lost their accounts and all their content for simply participating in a fraudulent scheme engineered by some UrCove hotels in China is a cautionary tale:

While the giveaway bonanza is undoubtedly legit, one wonders whether it is possibly an unintended consequence...
I considered this, but honestly we are still a very weird niche cadre of nerds; most folks will simply let the awards expire. I don't think it'll be an issue at scale.
