German leisure airline Condor operates long haul flights to all kinds of destinations in the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean. However, the carrier’s latest route addition, as flagged by @IshrionA, is especially interesting to me.
In this post:
Condor adds flights to Los Cabos, Mexico
As of November 3, 2024, Condor will launch a new twice weekly flight between Frankfurt (FRA) and Los Cabos (SJD). The route will be operated on Sundays and Wednesdays, with the following schedule:
DE2124 Frankfurt to Los Cabos departing 12:00PM arriving 5:15PM
DE2125 Los Cabos to Frankfurt departing 7:15PM arriving 2:35PM (+1 day)
The 6,144-mile flight is blocked at 13hr15min westbound and 12hr20min eastbound, so it’s quite the marathon flight. As a matter of fact, it will be the longest flight in Condor’s network — it’s not often you see 13+ hour flights designed almost exclusively for leisure travelers.
Condor will use its modern Airbus A330-900neos for this route, featuring 310 seats. This includes 30 business class seats, 64 extra legroom economy seats, and 216 economy seats. You can read my review of Condor’s excellent A330 business class here.
It’s impressive to see the pace at which Condor is refreshing its long haul fleet, as by this spring, the airline will exclusively fly A330-900neos on long haul flights. These planes have direct aisle access from every business class seat, so Condor is destroying Lufthansa in that regard.
Condor flying to Los Cabos is a unique route
I’m writing about this route for a few reasons. For one, since my family is from Germany, I’m always interested to see what German airlines are up to, especially with the shift we’ve seen in Condor’s business model in recent years. Furthermore, I love Baja California, as I find the landscape to be so incredibly beautiful, thanks to the desert-meets-ocean terrain.
However, I also can’t help but point out what a unique route this is. Los Cabos Airport almost exclusively sees flights within the Americas, with very few long haul flights. Prior to this Condor service, the only other long haul route is a seasonal Iberojet flight from Madrid. So it’s fascinating to see Condor add this flight, since I wasn’t aware that Baja California was particularly popular with Germans. Then again, I guess Germans like to go just about everywhere.
While Condor is increasingly competing head-to-head against Lufthansa in business markets, it’s nice to see Condor’s continued creativity with its leisure flying, operating all kinds of routes that other airlines would never dare try. This is also some smart counter seasonal flying, given the demand shift across the Atlantic between summer and winter.
It’s pretty wild that Frankfurt now has more direct connectivity to Los Cabos than Miami…
Bottom line
As of November 2024, Condor will be launching a new route between Frankfurt and Los Cabos using an Airbus A330-900neo. This will be one of the airport’s only transatlantic flight, so that’s mighty cool to see. I continue to be impressed by how Condor evolves.
What do you make of Condor adding flights to Los Cabos?
Frankfurt is also getting a new route to Tulum this autumn. EW Discover will operate the first transatlantic route to Tulum.

"German leisure airline Condor operates long haul flights to all kinds of destinations in the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean."
Don't forget that it serves 3 Canadian cities too.
Spanish airline Iberojet is resuming its seasonal international route between Madrid and Los Cabos this summer for the third consecutive year.
Starting June 23, the carrier will offer a weekly flight every Sunday through Sept. 28.
Finnair had a HEL-PVR nonstop a year or two ago. Can't find it now though...
I’m in Cabo now for first time and I say they should call this flight Sucker101 as this ghetto with walls is such a Debbie downer! There is simply no comparison to Hawaii and I can’t think of anyone on the West coast wanting to visit this place. I was trying to find an alternative to Hawaii and mission failed! Never step foot in this country again! Wife calls it gracious incompetence!
Unless it's been canceled, this will be Cabo's second TATL flight. I remember Iberojet offering flights to MAD.
Yes still is seasonal was operating last year and again this summer... article needs to correct this
One German is blackmailing airlines and another is extorting hotels.
What isn't to love about possibilities of Germans going to Mejico
The Influencreich has invaded beach destinations but only face resistance from Bali and East Timor.
Beautiful prose, Darrell...even if I'm personally a fan of the area. I do agree that store shouldn't be hanging those items outside.
Get ready to start running for the pool chairs at 7am if the Germans are coming to Cabo…
Ben, can you please do something about this noisy d-bag?
Dear Ben,
slightly off topic, but I am curious, can you actually understand and speak German fluently or not at all ?
Which level would you consider your German, from A1 to C3 ?
Thanks, Michael
Also happy to see Condor launching flights to Phuket. Another very long leisure route.
Also Frankfurt to Cape Town, another route that LH had to themselves for a long time. Condor stepping on some toes. :)
one stop cabo to phuket trip. Is there any other airline that can connect these two cities in one stop? Ben, please do this review
Does this mean the crew have 3 days of rest in Mexico between flights? If so I imagine that would be quite popular, rare to see such long layovers nowadays.
... sometimes airlines have private charter flights to another destination for there Crews, right after the duty flight.
CONDOR also flies to Cancun quiet often or to Cuba, so i guess, that would be combines as CONDOR is also trying ti hire new Crew!
Sometimes, Crews get lucky these days, with NICE layovers, but i guess, those Crew rotations will be combined with another Destination! ;-)

Entire Lufthansa-Group is such a mess and such a corrupt Company, not only for it's own employees but also for clients, competitors and especially CONDOR . . . as CONDOR simply has the better Product by now and more modern fleet, PLUS . . . the absolute better and more motivated people, even in tough times, they stood behind there Airline, while Lufthansa -Group fired, yes fired employees without notice (even pilots in training) and now they are stuck with old and mostly expensive Staff, and do ANYTHING to get rid of them!
Lufthansa-Group is a thing from the past!
Too bad, not more people see that, but live in a phantasy world and only see things that might have bern good in the past days, but by far not today anymore!
Strikes right now show exactly that and how unhappy there own people are!
Did you EVER see a strike at CONDOR in recent years?
.... not to forget, CONDOR is a modern airline and does a GREAT job to withstand any attack of that absolutely overaged Lufthansa-Group.
I HOPE, your words "Condor is destroying Lufthansa ...." will come true in many more ways then just the modern fleet and interior.
I MEAN IT!
