Booking stays at IHG properties by tomorrow could prove to be pretty lucrative…
In this post:
IHG One Rewards Cyber Monday promotion
Through the end of 2025, IHG One Rewards has a global promotion offering 3x points on stays, with some limitations. As an additional promotion for Cyber Monday, IHG is offering 5x points rather than 3x points for new bookings.
If you’ve already registered for the standard 3x points promotion, there’s no need to register for this offer. If you haven’t registered for that promotion, then you’ll want to register for the 5x points offer. Members can earn an unlimited number of bonus points with this promotion.

How lucrative is this IHG One Rewards promotion?
IHG One Rewards members ordinarily earn the following return on spending at IHG properties (for what it’s worth, I value IHG points at 0.5 cents each):
- IHG offers 10x points per dollar spent at most brands, and 5x points per dollar spent at Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites
- IHG members receive bonus points — Silver members receive a 20% bonus, Gold members receive a 40% bonus, Platinum members receive a 60% bonus, and Diamond members receive a 100% bonus
- If you pay with the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card (review) or IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card (review), you earn 10x bonus points per dollar spent
So with this promotion, you’d earn 5x as many points as usual, calculated from the base points. That means for brands ordinarily earning 10x points per dollar spent, you’d earn 50x points per dollar spent. For example, if you were a Diamond member paying with a co-branded credit card, you could earn a staggering 70x points per dollar spent.
That’s potentially an excellent return on spending at IHG properties, with the major limitation being that you need to stay before the end of the year, and book within a short timeframe.
Bottom line
IHG One Rewards has a phenomenal Cyber Monday promotion, offering 5x points on new hotel bookings for stays that are completed before the end of the year. This is an opportunity to earn a minimum of 50x points per dollar spent, but if you’re an elite member paying with a co-branded credit card, you could be earning up to 70x points per dollar spent.
Do you plan on taking advantage of this IHG promotion?
So this is only for a prepaid (and un-cancelable) booking? Because I have a cancelable one and they say I'll be billed by the hotel at time of stay.
Would a booking through Virtuoso be eligible for the 5x promotion?
The 3x promo only applies to the second or third stay. Is this true for the 5x?
If I have an existing reservation, do I have to cancel and re-book it to take advantage of the bonus?
Would that even make sense?
@ Craig -- You would have to rebook. Assuming the rate is refundable, see if the cost has gone up. If it hasn't (or if the difference is minimal), it could absolutely make sense to rebook.
Classic IHG playbook strike again, need to rebook after promo register.
