IHG One Rewards’ last global promotion ended on May 31, 2024. It appears that the hotel program doesn’t plan to have a global promotion for the summer, but rather has a few targeted offers that some members are eligible for. I wanted to recap the details of this, as the targeted offers are available for stays as of today.
In this post:
IHG One Rewards has targeted offers
IHG One Rewards doesn’t have a global promotion for the summer of 2024, but rather has targeted promotions. Not all members will be eligible for an offer, though it seems there are three most common offers, which some members can take advantage of (you’ll find registration links below):
- Earn 2,000 bonus points for every two nights stayed
- Earn 3,000 bonus points for every three nights stayed
- Earn 8,000 bonus points for every four nights stayed

As you’d expect, there are some details to be aware of, which are the same between all the versions of the offers:
- The promotions are valid for stays between June 20 and August 31, 2024
- There is no booking deadline, so nights consumed anytime during the promotion period are eligible, as long as you register in time
- All paid nights booked directly with IHG qualify for these promotions, as long as the nightly rate is at least $30 (award nights don’t qualify)
- The bonus can be earned an unlimited number of times, with the limit being how many nights you can stay during the promotion period
- Bonus points will post up to six weeks after an eligible stay

How lucrative are these IHG One Rewards promos?
IHG One Rewards members ordinarily earn the following return on spending at IHG properties:
- IHG offers 10x points per dollar spent at most brands, and 5x points per dollar spent at Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites
- IHG members receive bonus points — Silver members receive a 20% bonus, Gold members receive a 40% bonus, Platinum members receive a 60% bonus, and Diamond members receive a 100% bonus
- If you pay with the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card (review) or IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card (review), you earn 10x IHG bonus points per dollar spent
Personally I value IHG points at ~0.5 cents each. That makes these promotions pretty straightforward. Two versions of the promotion offer 1,000 bonus points per night, while one version of the promotion offers 2,000 bonus points per night, all when staying in the right increments. To me that’s like an incremental $5-10 return on IHG spending.
That’s better than nothing, but that’s about all I can say. I can’t imagine anyone will be switching around stays in order to take advantage of any of these offers.
Bottom line
IHG One Rewards has just launched some targeted promotions for the summer of 2024. Different members will be targeted for different offers (and some members won’t get any offers at all), but the most common deal seems to be for 1,000 to 2,000 bonus points per night, in the right increments.
By my valuation, that’s an incremental $5-10 return per night. That’s not exactly a reason to switch any stays to IHG, but if you’re eligible, you might as well register.
What do you make of IHG One Rewards’ targeted promotions?
I've been with IHG for over 30 years and I finally reached Diamond Elite, I'm sure it's cost me over $100,000 US dollars..lol
But I still don't understand the Milestones points can someone explain it in layman terms.
Hi Ben, I think the 3000 points every 3 nights is wrong. It says on the website that its 3000 points every 2 nights.
BTW I love your articles and have been reading them since last summer. Just made an account now to comment!
So stay 4 nights and get about $40 worth of pts...their must be suckers that are motivated by such garbage promotions, or else they wouldnt offer them. sad really.
I tried buying 23,000 points (+ the 23,000 point bonus) for a cost of $230. After taxes and fees, the net cost was calculated to be $264. I thought the extra $34 or 14-15% in taxes and fees seemed excessive so I passed on the offer. When I bought $50 worth of Hilton Points last month there were no taxes.
