All Nippon Airways’ Mileage Club program is offering a status match promotion specifically targeting those in North America, which could be a great way to earn Star Alliance Gold status.

All Nippon Airways’ status match promo
All Nippon Airways Mileage Club is offering a status match promotion:
- This is valid for applications through September 28, 2022
- Matched status is valid through March 31, 2023
- Status with American AAdvantage, Delta SkyMiles, and Japan Airlines Mileage Bank is being matched
- You can be matched to Bronze or Platinum status in All Nippon Airways’ Mileage Club program
- You must be a resident of the United States, Canada, or Mexico, to participate
Below is a chart showing how status maps over between programs.
The process of requesting a status match is easy. You’ll first have to sign-up for ANA Mileage Club, if you’re not yet a member. Then you’ll need to complete the status match application form (yes, oddly this is through Survey Monkey). You’ll have to include a copy of your 2021 or 2022 mileage statement summary or status membership card, showing your name, elite status, and status expiration.
What are the benefits of ANA Mileage Club status?
It’s a bit ironic that All Nippon Airways is offering a status match targeted at North American members at the moment, given that Japan remains off limits for tourists from North America.
You can read about the benefits of ANA Mileage Club Platinum status here, and read about the benefits of ANA Mileage Club Bronze status here. I’d say Platinum status is a lot more valuable than Bronze status, so I’d primarily consider this offer if eligible for the Platinum offer.
But even with Platinum status, the main perks you’re getting will be those associated with Star Alliance Gold status, which gets you privileges when traveling on any Star Alliance airline. Star Alliance Gold perks include the following when flying on a Star Alliance airline:
- Access to Star Alliance Gold lounges, even if you’re traveling domestically on United
- Priority check-in
- Priority baggage handling
- Priority boarding
- Extra baggage allowance
This certainly comes in handy when traveling on a Star Alliance airline. And for those who may be frequent United flyers, getting United Club access on domestic itineraries is potentially quite valuable.
Note that you don’t actually have to credit your miles to ANA Mileage Club to take advantage of Star Alliance Gold status perks, but rather just have to provide your membership number when checking in at a United Club. However, some agents may be a bit confused, and may take a while to process your check-in (and some may accidentally swap out the frequent flyer number on file).
Bottom line
All Nippon Airways Mileage Club is offering a lucrative status match promotion for those in North America who have status with American, Delta, or Japan Airlines. This is an easy way to earn Star Alliance Gold status, which could get you lounge access even on domestic itineraries within the United States.
Do you plan on taking advantage of this ANA status match?
This might be a stretch but I just booked Lufthansa from AUSTIN to FRANKFURT using United miles. What are the chances I can match my delta platinum to this and apply it to my upcoming flight around Thanksgiving. Thanks
I seem to have registered but it says wrong home address and cant send snail mail info .
Its 3 weeks and no upgrade on ANA Milagros app . HELP
Update. Worked.
How do I get the disgústala version I got platinum match but can’t see the digital card
Got the match to platinum!
It says wait 14 days.
@themasses Can anyone confirm success? Nothing on my membership card via mobile app.
Nothing yet.
I joined the ANA FF program and applied for the status match on April 7. I received an email confirmation on April 8. The digital membership "card" appeared in the ANA app that same day. As of April 15, there's no indication of a status match.
Has anyone received a confirmed status match yet?
Both my wife and I received our status matches overnight (April 21-22) last night. That's right at two weeks. There was no email (yet) from ANA but our digital membership cards updated appropriately. Star Alliance Gold through 03/31/2023!
Still waiting on status match from ITA.
How does one confirm that the match has occurred? The airline website (English Version) is comically bad.
I have the same problem: Can't find a copy of the membership card as shown in step 4 on either the web or app versions, and have exhausted every tab and option
Agree. How does one know we got the match?
You need to download the ANA MILEAGE app not the ANA app.
Their FF program has its own app.
In for Platinum. Matching from AA Plat Pro. Now I will have status on all 3. Earned AA, matched to DL & now match to ANA for *A. I guess I can quit ignoring all of these crazy cheap SAS & Tap Portugal fares I keep seeing.
When did you match? Still not seeing mine update yet.
Right before I posted the message you replied to. I have seen nothing but don't really expect anything fast. I have nothing booked but DL coming up for that match so I'm in no hurry for this. I'm just doing this so when UA is substancially less $ than DL or AS/AA, I can fly without being treated like a complete POS, per their typical.
This is getting sort of funny. Thanks to status extensions and subsequent promotions, I've only spent about $2500 to retain OneWorld Emerald for 2 years. Now I also have top status in SkyTeam (thanks ITA) and can get the Star Alliance equivalent from ANA for free.
How I'm going to renew all of these credentials is another issue - my first priority is burning 6 SWUs before July 31st. But this is certainly a strange year for frequent flyer programs.
thanks, just submitted my application

That would work? I always thought one need to check in with the corresponding loyalty program in order to use the status. Can someone help me here?
I had the same question when I signed up for the Singapore promotion and had difficulty finding an answer. I want to keep crediting to United since I am United Silver (through Marriott) and want the ability to get the extra space seats at check-in. I had the same question when I signed up for the Singapore promotion and had difficulty finding an answer. I want to keep crediting to United since I am United Silver (through Marriott) and want the ability to get the extra space seats at check-in. I normally walk into the United Club, show them my Singapore Gold on my phone, and tell them I don't want to switch programs, just access the lounge through my Singapore credentials. Normally, there is a minute or two when the agent has to ask someone what to do, but it has always worked (multiple times in multiple United Clubs). Also worked at the Star Alliance Lounge at LAX. YMMV, but so far I am at 100% success. No need to credit to ANA and then switch it to United in my experience. Incidentally, I always carry a print-out of the Star Alliance lounge access rules, but so far, I have never had to pull it out or received push-back.
Japan remains off limits to all tourists from all countries. By making it seem like travelers from North America are specifically being targeted, you minimize the true scope of the problem: That Japan has the most sweeping travel restrictions of any major country besides China.
Not sure why it matters that Japan still has sweeping restrictions in the context of this match. Most of the readers are NA based and probably matching for the sake of benefits while traveling on United or Air Canada.
How does status matching Americans fix or create or even influence problems regarding government restrictions.
And besides you can still transit through Japan.
So many countries in Asia that Americans can visit flying ANA.
Matching via my DL Platinum Status = I rarely fly United but I have one or two trips with them coming up so this will come in handy to access the United Clubs. Thanks Lucky!
I’m already United Gold, so will my *A Gold from ANA “supersede” my *A Gold from United when traveling domestically allowing me to access a United lounge?
(forgot to mention I’m Delta platinum (thanks to targeted AMEX match and my earned Alaska MVP Gold status), which is how I’ll match to ANA platinum)
When you book your ticket, use your NH number, then usually once you've checked into the lounge the agent can usually change the number to your UA so you can accumulate points there.
If I booked a United flight domestically would they automatically know I am star alliance gold and allow me to book economy plus seats? Would my digital boarding card say priority for security? That’s mostly what I would value
Economy Plus seating is a United benefit, not a Star Alliance benefit. In order to get free E+ seating, you'd need United status. Sometimes at check-in or at the gate you can snatch it as Star Alliance Gold, but no guarantees.
Just submitted my status match, now for the waiting game.
Who would have thought holding Gold, Elite+, and Sapphire in the same year would be this easy. So much for taking advantage of all those lower qualifications and rollovers.
Big thanks to ANA, ITA, and Royal Air Maroc.
Now why don't we take it a bit further and makes things hassle free.
Free bags and lounge access without needing to match. That way we don't even have to waste time switching FFP on our tickets too.
