Wyndham Promo: Free Night After Two Stays

While Wyndham is the largest hotel franchising company in the world in terms of number of properties (they have 9,300 hotels in 90 countries), I don’t talk all that much about their loyalty program, Wyndham Rewards.

Wyndham’s new free night promotion

With Wyndham’s newest “Make Your Break” promotion, you can get a free night after just two qualifying stays.

The way this promotion works:

  • You’ll receive a one-time bonus of 5,500 bonus points after completion of two stays, which is in addition to a guaranteed 1,000 points per stay, for a total of at least 7,500 points
  • You must first register at wyndhamhotels.com/makeyourbreak
  • You then need to book two qualifying stays between February 21 and April 26, 2020
  • You must complete two qualifying stays by May 21, 2020
  • Stays must be booked directly through Wyndham, either through their website or mobile app
  • Bonus points will post within two to four weeks of the second qualifying stay

Redeeming Wyndham Rewards points

When it comes time to redeem Wyndham Rewards points, there are three tiers of hotels:

  • About a third of properties cost 7,500 points per night
  • A majority of properties cost 15,000 points per night
  • A few hundred hotels cost 30,000 points per night

As you can tell, the 7,500 bonus points are good for a free night at Wyndham’s lowest tier properties.

Bottom line

While this promotion doesn’t scale very well beyond the first two stays, this is a decent enough offer if you have two upcoming Wyndham stays.

After two stays you’ll have at least enough points for a free night at one of Wyndham’s entry level properties, or you can save up those points towards a stay at a more expensive property.

  1. I’m currently on two consecutive Wyndham stays this week. Face palm.
But there was a 2X pts promotion. I don’t stay at a lot of hotels so I kept reminding myself to remember to use the Wyndham Rewards credit card at Checkin.
Last night I was at Ramada Inn North SFO airport and surprisingly clean nice property. Next up is Days Inn Hyde Park London. Expectations are low but it’s smack in the middle of London for under $100 a night.

  2. Haha, bad promo, last one was for Canada and 2 stays give you 15k, actually enough for a free night
I bet Ben never stayed at a Wyndham hotel before that cost 7500 points

  3. It was a nightmare trying to get credit for this promotion last year. Plus I think Wyndham properties are a step below most other chains. If the rewards could be used for any hotel (before the devaluation last year), I would consider it. Since only a handul are at the 7500 level, this is a pass for me.

  4. While bonus points are good, I can’t see any reason to use it at 7,500.

I never came across any decent Wyndham at that rate.

From my recent experience with the 3 tier system, most 30k is way over valued and bad redemption return.
Many 15k are decent with good value, many are not.
7.5k can get the most points value but aren’t that decent.

As with Choice, good value seems to be outside NA.

  5. Even Super 8 motels are all 15,000 points, all that I checked. Paid rates are about $50 per night there. Maybe 7,500 points properties exist, but I don’t think I want to stay there.

  6. Thanks for the timely info. I was on my way to check into a Wyndam from the airport and was able to register for the promo before I got there. Seeing I split my reservation in two, that counts as two stays.
