US Airways plane goes down in Hudson River

Via the AP:

NEW YORK (AP) — A US Airways plane has crashed into the Hudson River, sending passengers fleeing for safety in the frigid waters.

New York City firefighters are responding to the crash. It was not immediately clear if there were injuries.

Witness Barbara Sambriski, a researcher at The Associated Press, said, “I just thought, ‘Why is it so low?’ And, splash, it hit the water.”

This gives me the chills. My thoughts and prayers are with those aboard, their families, and friends.

Gosh, these idiot reporters drive me crazy. What I’ve heard so far on the news:

“US Airways is one of the few airlines with a double hub system, which is noteworthy.”

“My sister lives in Charlotte so I take this flight all the time and it has always gone smoothly.”

“This looks like a fairly routine incident.”
