Today only: 20 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent on Groupon purchases

In the interest of full disclosure, OMAAT earns a referral bonus for anyone that’s approved through some of the below links. These are the best publicly available offers (terms apply) that we have found for each card. Through 11:59 eastern tonight, the Ultimate Rewards mall (for those with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, etc.) is offering 20 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent at Groupon. I value Ultimate Rewards points at a minimum of two cents each thanks to the fact that they can be transferred to United, so that’s basically a 40% discount on anything at Groupon.

If you can find something worthwhile, that’s a pretty stellar deal…

  1. Please note these terms & conditions: Special increased earnings now through 11/14/2011! Not eligible on the purchase of gift cards, but eligible on purchases made with a gift card. Not eligible on orders using Groupon bucks or rewards.

  2. I bought a $200 gift card, as I buy the odd Groupon every few weeks or so – there was nothing of interest today, so I went for the max gift card purchase available (in one transaction).

I did not see anywhere that read gift cards were ineligible.

  3. Do you **HAVE** to use the Sapphire or Freedom card to get the bonus points? What about a Chase card in general?

Could I still get the 20/points per dollar at Groupon Today if say I used a Citi credit card (like the Thank You Preferred card)?

Has anyone gotten points and bonuses like this to post without using a Chase card?

  4. Would Groupon Getaways be eligible? WRI had a $699 deal for a 7 day stay at multiple resorts. Buying that would yield 14,000 points.

Multiple other getaway deals are possible through Groupon Getaways

  5. Not a bad deal. I purchased a couple of much-needed sweaters and henleys from AmericanApparel with Groupon’s $100 credit. Not only do I get the tops I need, but I also get 1,000 miles to boot.

  6. @BostonFlyer: Ok thanks. I thought I read on one of Lucky’s other posts that some reader said you didn’t need to use a Chase Sapphire card…any credit card would work as long as you went through the Ultimate Rewards shopping portal.

Wish I wanted more of Today’s Groupons =P

  7. @BostonFlyer:I dont think you **have** to use the Sapphire card to get the points, I’ve purchased laptops using SPG card, clothing on using GC, I’ve always gotten the UR points.

Today I used the SPG card to purchase the $3000 Invisalign package, been wanting to do this for a few months now, $3000 is already great price, plus the bonus 60k UR points make this a no brainier.

  8. so at the ultimate rewards you HAVE to use the Chase Sapphire Card or can you use any credit card to get the bonus points?

  9. Thanks for the heads up! Got a couple nights at a local resort on a Groupon Getaway deal, big bonus for me as I was wanting to buy it anyways.

  10. When I log in and go to the UR site Groupon shows at 12 points per $. Anyone else not seeing the 20 pts when they log in?
