qatar business class 777 vs 350

qatar business class 777 vs 350

I am traveling from Doha to Miami on Qatar business class. DOH-MIA is a 777, business class product is outdated. Is it worth adding a stopover in Boston to fly on an A350?

hi AHB, really depends on your priorities right? 🙂 I’d probably switch to try the new plane but if you are traveling with other people they might not care enough to add the time and connection hassle.

JFK and PHL are also serviced with the A350 so you have options, especially if this is an award. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend EY’s A380 from JFK or their A789 from IAD either, which is bookable using AA miles. If its a paid flight, you can credit it all to AA if you’d like.

It really depends. If you are fine with the extra hassle, go for it. The Old product is still fully flat and is a 2-2-2 which means fairly wide seats compared to most forward facing 777 products being 2-3-2

can’t wait till we get newer planes to ORD. Qatar, Etihad, and Emirates all operate 77Ws to ORD. A380 gate is being modified right now though

David thanks for your response. I searched and for JFK and PHL are serviced with 777 (QR). only A350 to BOS

tried changing the flight but my original ticket is J fare, and the DOH-BOS is on I (cheaper), QR cannot downgrade fares so there is a change of afre charge of almost USD $500. My other option would be to cancel and ask a refund for my current ticket ($80 cancellation fee and taxes are not returned) and use the credit to purchase the new ticket DOH-BOS

$80 cancellation fee isnt horrible if you really want to fly the A350.

I find it strange that taxes and fees arent returned though – how much is that?

Hello,

The a350 Bussiness class is amazing and flying on Qatar is amazing. Are you flying with a partner? If so it shouldn’t matter as you, however if you are on your own I would go with the a350 because you have direct aisle and more privacy.

Hope this helps!

Hi
Does it make a difference on what type of fare I am traveling on QR to the number of miles I’ll earn on AA?

If my current ticket on QR is J – on QR site I will earn 200% qmiles, but for I will be 125% qmiles
http://www.qatarairways.com/PrivilegeClub/qmiles_earn_chart.page?mid=4&sid=1

On the AA website regarding miles when flying with QR for J,I its the same
https://www.aa.com/i18n/AAdvantage/earnMiles/airlines/qatar.jsp

Are the base miles calculated on the actual miles of the flight on based on the qmiles?

Thanks

Base miles the scheduled distance flown. gcmap.com is a good tool to use to check distances.

for example, DOH-MIA is 7680 miles. Crediting a business class ticket to AAdvantage will earn 9600 miles. Crediting to Qatar will earn 9600-15360 miles depending on the fare class.

you should also consider if you want status with QR or AA before crediting
