Apologies if this has been asked, I did a search which turned nothing. Hoping to get some insights.

I recently booked an open jaw trip on CI in premium economy: YVR (stopover in TPE) to HKG open jaw TPE back to YVR).

The connecting flight from TPE to HKG is operated by numerous equipment but the inner AV Geek in my had to fly the route with the 744. I selected the Premium Economy Super Saver fare (which books into E, and the HKG – TPE portion into B (highest economy tier but classified as Economy Restricted). I know the higher Saver and Flex tiers book the second leg into D (Business).

When I select seats for the HKG – TPE portion it shows me all the coach seating on the lower deck, however, I was playing around and am able to select and confirm my seats to be on the upper deck (old J) seats (There were only a few left, so I selected 10J and 10K).

Can I expect CI will allow us this seat selection? Or will I most likely be informed at check-in that I should not have been able to select these seats and will be relocated to the main deck coach section? If they do allow us these seats, will it be marked on our documents as “Business” (lounge access in TPE) or will it be the old business seat with essentially economy service/meals.

If anyone has any experience or data points, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
