Edelweiss Air (Swiss subsidary airline)

Edelweiss Air (Swiss subsidary airline)

Edelweiss Air is a daughtet company of Swiss Int. Air Lines based in Zurich, Switzerland. It is basically the holiday airline of Swiss. The focus of the route lies ln holdiay and sunny and warm destinations. While Edelweiss Air is not a Star Alliance member all if their routes are operated in codeshare with Swiss so you will receive m&m miles and you can (and should) buy flights over Swiss. (Edelweiss only offers their flights and only if you buy both ways. One ways and multi segment journeys are not booka le over Edelweiss.)
Their fleet consists of 5 A320 for short haul flying to Antalya (Turkey) or Marrakesh and Agadir (Morocco) etc. For long haul they operate 1 A330-300 leased from Swiss aswell as a brand new A330-300 242ton version and an older A330-200. Edelweiss will receive 3 of the older A340-300 from Swiss to expand their long haul fleet. Destinations are Rio de Janeiro, Male, Las Vegas, Vancouver etc.

In my opinion Edelweiss Air is a great little airline. They offer a decent hard product on short haul (Business only offers eco seats with a free seat in the middle) aswell as a really great soft product. Their crews are one of the nicest I have ever met. I’ve been flying with them to Antalya since about ten years once or twice yearly (Always Business in A320) and I was always very happy.

On long haul you can check out my review here: Still writting 😉

Have you ever flown on Edelweiss Air? What are your opinions on this rather unknown little airline?

Edelweiss Airline us a rather unknown little holiday airline owned by Swiss. They will receive three A340-300 to expand their long haul routes. I just received the planned seat map. Their A333 and A332 use the classic Business – Eco premium – Economy seating from front to back.

I was shocked. Business is the highest class Edelweiss offers and with Business I automatically connect privacy, calmness, private toilets, better seats, better service, seat in front of plane etc. Four of the above listed have been just shattered or at least partially shattered. You can forget those private toilets aswell as being in the front of the plane (where it also is less shaky due the the plane going through air like an arros and the front being the most stable part). The calmness and privacy is gone because I can already imagine economy premium passengers visiting toilets in the back and walking through Business also Normal Economy visiting their friends in front (okay not so much I guess). But there isn’t even a galey between eco and Busines. But on boarding every eco passenger will walk through Business. Great. Also about the calmness. Business is now located between two economy cabins (one is premium okay), but it won’t exactly help making ecerything more calmer.
I mean there is a reason every airline until now put their best cabin in front. Okay A380 and 747 may be an exception, bur not so bad as here.

What are your thoughts?
Me on my part am totally dissapointed.

Of course it’s great airline but there’s this onetime I faced problem traveling with them, I wanted to change my ticket, I was traveling from Edinburgh to Zurich and wanted to change my flight but I couldn’t get any UK contact or office details for Edelweiss after alot of research I got contact number on http://www.airlinescontact.com/edelweiss-air-contact-details/ but still couldn’t get there office address in Edinburgh or anywhere in UK but as far as traveling with them is concerened they are best airline if you want low cost luxury airline.
