Personal items all tossed away during a hotel stay (cleaning ladies?). What to do?
i stayed at the raddison hotel at crystal city, va (reagon airport) for 3 nights each week for 3 weeks in total, i.e., 9 nights – promotion says, 30K points for 3 nights. i booked double points biz and chose to upgrade to 4 people’s free breakfast every day (paid $219/night). the hotel refused to give me 4 free coupons per day (gave me one coupon only per day). then, the last week on tuesday evening when i returned to my room, all my stuffs are thrown away (by cleaning ladies, i guess). toothpaste, toobrush, hair comber, razor, socks, ties, paper/documents, book, snacks, sausages, bluh bluh, are all gone. club carlson said they do not compensate my personal belongings loss at their hotel and the hotel manager contacted me without sincere attitude. please advise what i can do. thanks a lot, andy
@ Andy — I’m a bit confused. They threw away all your stuff and lost it, or…? What was their reasoning?
follow-up on my lost item at radisson hotel, crystal city, virginia, (reagon airport) on Monday 3/23/2015 — 3/24/2015:
their cleaning lady threw away all my personal stuffs from my room tuesday and when i returnd tuesday evening, all stuffs are gone. i went to front desk to complain and they said sorry and gave me toothpaste, toothbrush, razors (and reissued my breakfast coupon, one coupon per day). but they never mentioned they would compensate my other stuffs and do anything. i waited for one week and complained to reward program, then hotel manager contacted me and asked me what they can do. i said, first i want them to double points of rate because i booked double points biz rate. the manager sais it is not his control and i asked for too much. i said, ok, i want nothing from you. i want you to compensate my personal stuffs. he never agreed. so, i had to hang on the phone and complained to reward program again. then, reward program replied, they do not compensate personal belongings lost in the room. what are us federal regulation agency i can file a complaint?
@ Andy — That’s very odd, this really isn’t making sense to me. So they threw away all your stuff, and the first thing you asked the GM about is issuing your points correctly? Sorry, not sure there’s anything I can do here. Very strange…
Andy- They threw away your stuff and you asked for points?!! I can’t imagine that. \\ Can you go to Crystal City again? Tell the manager your stuff was not “lost”. It was effectively stolen. Tell him you will go to the District Attorney and the police to file criminal charges if they don’t reimburse you for buying new stuff and his name will be in the complaint. You also need to contact the top chain executives. Have your lawyer send the manager and the top execs a Demand Letter.
Andy–I’m a little confused too. You had a Monday-Tuesday stay. Check out is noon at the Crystal City Radisson. You say you came back in the evening on Tuesday to pick up your stuff? Had you arranged for a late check out? I am guessing housekeeping thought you had left and threw your stuff out…
