Hi Lucky!
I am a big miles guy (United, Lufthansa) due mainly to business travel, but I play the credit card game a bit too. Problem is, I never ever stay in chain hotels when I travel, since I prefer a more local experience. Anyway, a while back, I got a targeted offer for 45k on spg amex, and then i put another 5k spend on it. Now I have 50k starpoints and don’t know what to do with them bc most of my miles are in United and the transfer rates are bad. Would love your advice!

Not anymore. Transfer to Marriott for 150k then to united for 66,900. That’s 7,000 more than you get with the standard SPG transfer bonus.
