I would do the trip. The connection in ALG to TUN seems pretty safe: If things go well, it's just a 2 hours layover, if things go bad, there is another flight in the afternoon ...
As regards the stay in Tunis, I would do two nights, given your flight to MRS departs 11am and you therefore have only little time to explore.
