What are Elite qualifying miles

What are Elite qualifying miles

As a newbie, I don’t know what EQM are and what are their benefits. Do they expire or do they last a lifetime?

EQMs are one of the various criteria used to qualify for elite status on American Airlines and their AAdvantage program. Depending on the airline you fly and fare class purchased, you earn 0 to 3 EQMs per mile flown. United calls their version PQMs and Delta, MQMs. For all 3 airlines, you qualify by meeting a minimum spend requirement – EQDs for American, AND either qualifying miles or segments.
