Upgrade from Economy
I know of only one airline that allows customers to travel to upgrade with miles to business as long as their are seats in their inventory, which is Alitalia. Are there any other airlines that do this. I have a large family and would like to travel to Europe in April, Im willing to buy 6 tickets in Y and upgrade but I want to know the availability is there, I am not looking for award bucket availability.
Thanks!
Alitalia is your best bet for something like that, but keep in mind it’s not 100% availability — just that they use “I” (discounted business) as their upgrade pool. So you typically see way more seats available for upgrades than on other carriers.
KLM let me do this just a few weeks ago. Purchased economy and used miles to upgrade to business.

I thought KLM/AF has to have award availability in order for you to upgrade? Im looking for another airline that doesn’t require award availability, just like Alitalia
