Upgrade a C.C. – count as a new one for 5/24?

Upgrade a C.C. – count as a new one for 5/24?

I have an offer from Hyatt to upgrade their card and if I do I’ll get 5,000 Hyatt points after the first purchase. No reason not to do it unless this upgrade counts as a new card and would go against my 5/24 Chase count. So would it count?
    Thanks

Typically upgrades do NOT count towards 5/24. I have upgraded Marriott and SWA (both Chase) cards in the past year and the agents always assured me that upgrades never count as new credit cards being approved/opened. Most of the time the account number remains the same.
