Unachievable Itinerary

Unachievable Itinerary

  1. Anonymous Guest

I booked a trip from IND to RAK on DL. I booked through DL phone staff, all flights with DL flight numbers. Apparently, one of of the flights from AMS-RAK on Transavia had a schedule change to 9 hours earlier than originally booked. DL was notified of this change in May, but I was not. DL subsequently failed to make any changes to my itinerary. I check in at IND, and DL prints out all 3 boarding passes. Not expecting any issues, I flew to MSP and then onward to AMS. Upon arrival at 1:00p, I read the boarding pass and notice that the flight I was supposed to connect to departed at 6:20a. I am now stuck in AMS and will not be able to get to RAK until tomorrow at midnight. Clearly this is a huge screw up on DL’s part. I am a Platinum Medallion member. I have asked them to bump my husband (who is traveling with me) and me up to Diamond status from Platinum. They are saying no. I think this is a reasonable request. Thoughts?

I think you would have much more luck asking for cash/miles as compensation for the snafu. I’m not sure how you could argue that bumping you up to Diamond could rectify the situation. Asking for cash to cover your hotel, daily expenses, etc would be a much easier argument, in my opinion
