Transferring UR points from spouse to my United account

Transferring UR points from spouse to my United account

  1. Anonymous Guest

Can my spouse transfer her UR points to my United frequent flier account? Or does she need to have her own account with United? She doesn’t have an account with United so we want to be able to use the points I have in there.
    Thank

If you are an authorized user on one of her premium Chase cards, then you can add your UA number and transfer her points to your UA account.

    Hi,
Although I am a United MP member, I have no status. My husband is United Silver elite (due to Marriott Platinum benefit) which carries benefits such as lower change fees, etc. I am an AU on both his JPM Palladium and Reserve cards, both which generate UR. He never redeems UR for his own travel (he’s AA EXP), but I like to travel LH in First, and always transfer UR points to my husband’s United Mileage Plus account to ticket the trip since he’s the one with status.

I first log into my husband’s United account (which extends to me expanded availability and benefits) and search Mileage Plus award flights. When I find an itinerary I like, I transfer the needed UR points to my husband’s UA account, which transfer instantly (need to log out and log back into MP to see the added points). My UA account never comes into play. Still logged into his UA account, I put my name etc in the ticket passenger info, and then whatever benefits his status incurs transfers to me, the ticketed passenger. We have saved a lot in change fees over the years when I change my ticket from LH Business to First as First becomes available closer in. When it’s ticketed, I go to the LH website, input the LH confirmation code, and choose my seats immediately at no cost.
