Should I fly HongKong – Singapore – Sydney or the other way around with Suites Singapore Airline?

Should I fly HongKong – Singapore – Sydney or the other way around with Suites Singapore Airline?

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi Ben,

I am currently living in Singapore. However I realize that it takes me the same 80,000 miles to fly Singapore Airlines Suites class Singapore – Sydney or Hongkong – Singapore – Sydney. Therefore, I would like to go with the latter options as I will have an extra 4 hours between Hongkong – Singapore.

Nevertheless, I am contemplating between Hongkong – Singapore – Sydney and Sydney – Singapore – Hongkong. Can you advise me which route is better, in term of flight quality and airport lounges? I guess depending on the route I will have access either to Sydney lounge or Hongkong lounge?

    Thanks
    Vu

I know that for late night flights, SQ offers a more abbreviated “supper” service, so you may want to get on one of their morning of early evening flights.

If you add the HKG leg, you’ll have to get a separate ticket to/from SIN at the beginning/end of your trip. I’m not sure if the short flight is worth the extra hassle. At HKG you wouldnt be able to access the excellent Cathay lounges either.

I’m not sure when you are flying, but currently from SIN-SYD, SQ operates 2 A380s(SQ231 and SQ221). SQ231 leaves at ~12am and as David mentioned above will offer a simplified meal service. If you do book, I recommend you book on SQ221(departs at ~8pm) and this will have a full meal(caviar etc). That was one reason why I booked SQ221!

I’m currently booked on suites from HKG-SIN-SYD, but that’s only because i’m in HKG. I would not position myself to HKG just to “experience” an extra 4hours of suites. However, if you do plan on positioning yourself, United offers very reasonable fares from SIN-HKG!
