Routing from Tokyo to LAX via Hong Kong?

Routing from Tokyo to LAX via Hong Kong?

  1. AustinTexMan Member

    Hey Gang!
I have found SAAver award seats from NRT to HKG and from HKG to LAX. Will AA allow this routing or is that considered 2 separate awards?

    Thanks as always!

Don’t *think* it’s allowed as you’re going Asia 1 => Asia 2 => US. I know that Asia 2 => Asia 1 => US is valid routing but don’t think it is the other way around.

Can you do Avios NRT-HKG? It’s 20K in business vs. 30K AA miles. First is 40K for that route for both AA & BA. Of course that also means 2 separate tickets, claiming luggage, etc. May not be worth it.

Yea I don’t really want to burn that many miles for the separate rewards for sure. I have a milesaaver award in economy on JAL on hold, looks like that is my best option.
    Thanks for the reply.
