    Lucky,

I’ve been forced to fly AA recently. I notice that when I am purchasing a ticket there is an option to buy extra miles in a specific amount apparently based upon the flight. Purchasing these miles would cost about 3.3 cents / mile. Initially I thought these were ‘over-priced’ because they would add to MQD but the fine print says these miles do not count towards status. What is the ‘value’ for these miles and is there ever a time to buy them rather than simply purchasing additional miles separately? Thanks for you blog and I hope all is well!

Nope, unless you just need to quickly grab some extra miles. It’s a pretty bad price.
