Miles and more vs Krisflyer

Miles and more vs Krisflyer

1. Anonymous Guest

Hi Lucky
I have a few questions about a trip I have soon. I’m located in Germany, so most of the credit card and great offers you have here to earn points are not relevant to me. But I do my best with traveling with Lufthansa and Swiss in Europe about twice a month (class K and E mostly). So far on miles and more I saved 25000 points. Soon I’ll fly to NYC business class with Singapore Airlines which brings me to my 2 questions:
1. Should I get my miles for this flight on Krisflyer or miles and more? Which one is better?
Same question will be in the one-word club…British airways vs Qatar airways, where should I have the points?
2. I fly with my in laws (it will be their first flight ever out of Europe, and they don’t want the miles). Can their miles be transfered to my account? Can they sign their points to me? Or maybe have a family account?

Thank you so much

hi Dean, have you checked out this post: http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2016/08/06/credit-airline-miles/? I would see how many miles you earn on each carrier and how likely you are accrue additional miles there in order to have enough to secure an award.

BA is the only carrier that comes to mind that allows family pooling of miles. You can get more details at http://www.britishairways.com/en-us/executive-club/household-accounts. For all other carriers passengers will accrue miles in their own accounts. You may be able to transfer miles between accounts but usually the fees for doing so wipe out a significant amount of value.

And keep in mind the expiration dates. I believe that both KF and M&M miles have expiration dates regardless of whether or not there is activity in the account. So if you’re not going to fly SQ again anytime soon you may be better off crediting to LH.
