How to book tickets in other people’s accounts
I am booking miles tickets for my mom and dad and am having constant security issues when logging in from my computer and calling them. Security questions, social security numbers, etc.
When tiffany and co. book tickets for people, how do they do it? Do they take down all the person’s security info? What if Tiffany needs to call and she is booking for a David? Does she tell the rep she is “David?”
Thanks!
Yikes, I can’t imagine a situation where you’d need to provide their social security numbers, so that seems like the first problem.
If the awards can be booked online, just log into their accounts (with their permission). If you have to call, just conference mom or dad in and have them tell the rep that they will verify their info, but you have the flight details.
Thanks! I was calling CITI to deal with a transfer problem to Avianca. After giving their card number, I had to give last 4 of social and “security word” just for them to access the TY points account!
As a side note – Avianca mile transfers are not always instant! The first couple I did were, but the last one is 8 days and still no miles! Avianca says in can take up to 14 days. 🙁
There always seems to be a lot more security hurdles when doing these things over the phone than online for some reason. I routinely purchase airline tickets for others by logging into their accounts, using their card number and proving their cell phone and passport numbers from my computer without ever being challenged for an SSN or secret words.
