Also, is it still possible to purchase trip insurance when redeeming an award flight?

Not sure if KE offers trip insurance for award flights. Do you have a premium card that you can use for coverage? Ben mentions some of them here: [URL]http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2016/10/09/best-credit-card-airline-tickets/[/URL]. I’ve also heard of people use Allianz but make sure you get confirmation that you are getting coverage for what you need. Good luck!
