Done in by phantom space – next step?
Hi,
So I found a JAL itinerary using Alaska’s Mileage Plan program.
I converted 60k SPG into 75k for a mixed cabin itinerary (first and business) from ORD to BKK via NRT.
When the points hit my account, I went to book and the itinerary was still there (thankfully!).
However, after entering passenger info and payment information, they said they were unable to confirm the space with the partner airline.
Since then, the itinerary does not show up in the search results anymore.
What’s my best recourse and with who? SPG has already said they won’t reverse the transfer.
Hi @Sascha — that really stinks. 🙁
I’d suggest calling Alaska and seeing if they might be able to help. It’s unfortunate that the itinerary doesn’t show online anymore, as we have had success with Alaska trying to make it right when people have transferred points for phantom space, but it’s still maybe worth a call.
Thanks Tiffany!
I’ve been in touch with them, and they’ve proposed voiding the miles on their end to help re-converting back to SPG. The ball is now in SPG’s court.
