Do purchased points instantly appear?
I would need to buy some miles to top up my account. With AA I seem to remember that it instantly appears. Does anyone know whether it is the same with UA and DL miles? Most likely I will buy UA miles. Thank you.

Thank you. I have been checking UA’s website for the flights I need, to see whether there is a way of purchasing the missing points WHILE purchasing the tickets, just so that the availability would not disappear within that one minute it takes to buy those points/miles. (happened to me before that literally 5 seconds of thinking of a flight schedule cost me an award ticket).
When today I selected the flights (was just trying out the system), it said that I have not enough points (which I knew), and “see options below”. However, nothing appears below. Any advice regarding that?
My advice is directed to United to fix their website. But to answer your situation, if it were me I’d take a screen shot of the available reward, go buy the miles then go back to reserve the ticket. If it’s gone call United immediately ask to cancel the mileage purchase. Will that work? I can’t say for sure. They voided a mileage sale for me under different circumstances (less favorable than yours) but I’ve got status. Not sure if that had anything to do with it so YMMV.
