If you arrive into HKG on CX F (or F on any oneworld carrier) and you have a same day connection then you are allowed access into The Pier, First.

    Hello Garret.

What @David W wrote covers most of it, but he forgot to say that flights before 6am the next day is also eligible for lounge access..

Lucky article about lounge access from a few years back

So I actually have the similar situation where I have a 2 day stop over in HK, but arriving CX F. I emailed CX to ask if I can get into The Pier before I start my day (flight arrives at 5.30am)….

    Here is their response…

Not really sure what that means.

It means that since you paid the F rate and are booked under a first class booking code, you will be able to access the lounge.

In my experience, I went from DXB to SYD in QF F then had 23 hours in Sydney, went from SYD to MEL in QF J and MEL to AKL in QF J. Even though my F flight was over a day before, the QF staff let me into the F lounge in MEL. I’m not sure about CX but QF seems to allow F access if that was your class of service on one flight.

@Wesley C do you mean using the lounge on arrival from CX F, before exiting and going thru customs?

That’s not really practical at HKG. When you deplane, youre exiting in to the level that leads to transfer security or immigration. If you go thru transit security, which you’ll need in order to get to The Pier, First, I dont think there’s an official way to get back to immigration to enter Hong Kong. Furthermore, The Pier, First and Immigration are on complete opposite ends of the airport so it’s not the most convenient. The people mover goes in one direction for the departures level since the opposite direction is reserved only for arrivals.

This isnt to say you cant try, but that if you do, it’ll be tough and that you may not get in.

@phize Have you been allowed access on a similar itinerary multiple times or was it a one-off kind of thing? It could be that you were lucky or that QF’s policy is slightly different from CX’s and is more lenient.

It was a one-off thing. The representative did it without hesitation though. I’ve only flown with QF once, though.
