Award Tickets Vs Miles Redemption

Award Tickets Vs Miles Redemption

    Hi Lucky,

might sound like a really stupid question but is there a difference between award space and using miles to buy tickets. When i go to an airline website to buy tickets (Lets say emirates) and they show the price in $ and if use the option of redeeming miles they show how much will it cost in miles.

do airlines publish award space separately which is different than above process?

Award space is the same as using miles to buy tickets. So if a round-trip domestic ticket shows a “price” of 25K miles then it’s an award ticket.

Some airlines also offer you the option of “Pay with miles” which is a little different. In that situation the airlines are giving you ~1¢ for each mile, versus a pure “award ticket” which generally has a fixed price for a given route or zone.
